American Democracy Project
President Graham Spanier aligned Penn State faculty, students and staff with the American Democracy Project (ADP) Autumn 2006. ADP, sponsored by the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) in collaboration with The New York Times, is a national, 200-plus campus coalition whose purpose is to encourage the development and practice of civic engagement and democratic capacity. Recognizing that sustainable democracy requires individuals and institutions who understand and who commit to participation as citizens, Penn State’s Laboratory for Public Scholarship and Democracy recognizes ADP as a welcome community of colleagues and serves as Penn State’s ADP liaison.
