YFE 211:  Foundations of Civic & Community Engagement, now meets the General Education Social Sciences (GS) requirement and United States Cultures/International Cultures (US/ IL) requirements.  Former students in YFE 211, CAS 297, and YFE 211H may request, as needed, a substitution (by petition) of their CIVCM Foundations course for meeting GS, US, and/or IL requirements.

The following is a list of courses that count toward the Civic and Community Engagement Minor.  NOTE that this list is not all inclusive; other courses may be approved to meet minor requirements.   Consult the Minor advisor at your campus if you have any questions regarding courses which will fulfill the minor requirements.

Program List for Public Scholarship or Problem-Based Fieldwork and Research for the Civic and Community Engagement Minor

The Civic and Community Engagement minor requires 6-9 credits from a program list of public scholarship courses which include Public Issues and Democracy and Supervised Field Experience courses; at least 3 of these credits must involve supervised field experience. The following list includes a selection of courses that can meet this requirement.

Any course at the University which meets the spirit of this requirement in the judgment of the faculty advisor and the committee may be designated an approved equivalent.  Courses, including experimental courses (x97 courses) and independent study courses may also be approved to meet this minor requirement. Course selections will be evaluated by the committee at the point of application to the minor.
